Day Treatment Programs

The Day Treatment Program (Hamilton Site) offers an integrated treatment and educational program to 16 children between the ages of 6 and 14 years. Eight to ten children between 6-10 years may be served in the Junior classroom and eight to ten children between 11-14 years may be served in the Senior on-site classroom. Children in residence at Lynwood Hall, as well as children residing in the community, may access this program.

Children referred to the Day Treatment Program have a long history of serious emotional, social and/or behavioural problems which have interfered in their educational adjustment and progress. Less intrusive measures offered through education or a community agency will have been exhausted. Active participation by parents is expected.

Upon admission to the classroom, an individual treatment plan is developed with the child and family to address the difficulties, and to assess and remediate both the behavioural and academic challenges.

The Day Treatment Outreach program is responsible for the provision of support to children who have been identified as being in need of the Day Treatment program and who are waiting for placement in a treatment classroom. The program may also provide support for children who are integrating back into community classroom placements following time spent in the on-site Day Treatment classrooms.

Referrals to the Day Treatment programs can be made by calling the Manager of On-Site Services at 905-389-1361.
