Intensive Child & Family Services Program
The focus of the Intensive Child & Family Services program (IC&FS) is to strengthen the ability of children, youth and families to function more positively in their homes, schools and communities. This service will assist parents to develop skills to support children and youth between the ages of 0 – 18, with mental health needs, and who may be at risk for an out of home placement.
The objective is to deliver an intensive service to children and youth with mental health needs and their families which encompasses a process of planned, multidimensional, community based services and natural supports. Services are to be individualized for each child and family or youth, in order to be responsive to their dynamic needs.
The Intensive Child & Family Services Workers work with the child or youth in their home, in their school setting, or at any other community venue, depending on the needs of the particular child or youth.
The service model is multidisciplinary, drawing from the disciplines of Child and Youth Work, Social Work, Education and Psychiatry. The program is “client responsive” in that the professional staff develop goals to work on that the child, youth and families have identified. The approach emphasizes child and youth strengths and highlights positives from the family’s relationships.
